Zinewright

Terms of Service

Last updated: 3 November 2026

1. About these terms

Zinewright (in Chinese, 刊匠) turns manuscripts, Word documents and finished PDFs into publications that readers open with a link. It is operated by AjajaLab, an individual sole proprietor based in Hangzhou, China ("we", "us").

By creating an account or using Zinewright you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you use Zinewright for an organization, you confirm that you may accept these terms on its behalf.

2. Accounts

You sign in with an AjajaLab account, which uses a one-time code sent to your email address. You must be at least 16 years old. Keep access to your email secure: anyone who can read it can sign in to your workspace. You are responsible for activity in your workspace.

Readers do not need an account to open a published reading link.

3. The service

Zinewright lets you import text, basic Word documents (headings, paragraphs and supported notes) or PDF files; arrange articles; generate private proofs; publish a version at a stable reading link; publish newer versions; and withdraw a publication. Limits for each input type and plan are shown in the workspace and on the pricing page.

We may improve, change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service, we will give you at least 30 days' notice. During that time paid plans can export their publications' PDFs as usual. PDF export is not part of the free trial, so for free-trial workspaces we will open PDF export for your existing publications for the length of the notice period, and you can also ask support to send you the files.

4. Your content

You keep all rights in the content you upload and the publications you create. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, convert and display that content only as needed to run Zinewright for you, including showing published versions to anyone who has the reading link.

We do not sell your content and do not use it to train machine learning models.

You confirm that you have the rights to the content you upload and publish, including text, images, covers and fonts, and that publishing it does not infringe anyone else's rights or break the law.

A published reading link can be opened by anyone who has it. If you turn on PDF download, readers can save a copy that we cannot recall after you withdraw the publication.

5. Acceptable use

This section is our content policy. It applies to everything you upload or publish with Zinewright, including covers, images and text inside PDFs, and to how you use the service. Do not use Zinewright to publish or share:

Also do not:

Quoting, criticism, parody and other fair use of others' work are welcome; whether a use is fair depends on the law that applies to it.

6. Reports, review and appeals

Anyone can report a publication with the Report button on its reading page, or by writing to support@zinewright.com with the reading link and the reason. Reporters do not need an account, and we do not tell the author who reported them. Formal copyright notices and counter-notices are the exception: as section 7 explains, they are forwarded in full to the other party.

We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement, including notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you own the rights to work that appears in a Zinewright publication without permission, send a notice to support@zinewright.com with the subject "Copyright notice" that includes:

  1. your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
  2. a description of the copyrighted work, and where the original can be found;
  3. the Zinewright reading link, and the pages where the material appears;
  4. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
  5. a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner;
  6. your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough).

When we receive a complete notice we withdraw the publication and forward the notice to the workspace owner. Notices that knowingly misrepresent infringement may make the sender liable for damages.

Counter-notice. If your publication was withdrawn by mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with your name, address, telephone number and email; the reading link that was withdrawn; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district where your address is (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found) and to accept service from the person who sent the notice; and your signature. We forward it to the person who sent the notice and restore the publication not less than 10 and not more than 14 business days after receiving the counter-notice, unless they first tell us they have filed a court action to stop the infringement.

Repeat infringers. We close the workspaces of users who repeatedly infringe others' rights.

8. Plans and payment

Paid plans are not open yet. During the private preview you can only use the free trial; no payment can be made, no subscription can be started and nothing is charged. The rest of this section describes how paid plans will work once we open them, and we will announce that on the pricing page and in the workspace.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle's buyer terms apply to your purchase.

Plans and their allowances are described on the pricing page. A publication is one issue: corrections and layout changes to that issue count towards the same publication. Only successful generations count; failed generations, their retries and reused pages do not.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the link in your Paddle receipt; the plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Monthly allowances do not roll over. After a subscription ends, each published issue stays online until 12 months after it was first published; publishing or generating again needs an active plan or a single-issue purchase. One-time purchases do not renew.

If we change a subscription price, we will tell you at least 30 days before the change applies to your next renewal. Refunds are described in the refund policy.

9. Storage and retention

To keep storage bounded, Zinewright applies these rules automatically:

These rules clean up files and are not the same as deleting all your data. When a file is cleaned up (for example an old version, an unpublished proof or a PDF original), records about it, such as its metadata, generation and publishing history, and the snapshots of versions we keep, may remain. All of the data in a workspace is deleted only when you ask us to delete the workspace (section 10) or close your account; we then delete it within 30 days, except records we must keep by law or for handling reports, appeals and legal claims, as described in the privacy policy.

Keep your own copies of important files. Zinewright is not a backup service.

10. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Zinewright at any time. To delete your account, use Delete account in the workspace settings: every reading link goes offline at once, and after 7 days we erase your publications, files and settings. You can cancel during those 7 days. Your shared AjajaLab account is separate; to delete it as well, write to support and we will do so within 30 days. We may suspend or close a workspace, or withdraw a publication, if it breaks these terms or the law, or puts the service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and explain why; you can appeal as described in section 6.

These measures differ. Withdrawing a publication takes down only that reading link. Suspending publishing (for example after three withdrawals, section 6) only stops you from publishing new versions or new publications: it does not take down publications that are already public, which stay online until you or we withdraw them, and it does not block the rest of your workspace, so you can still sign in, edit drafts and download your content. Suspending or closing a workspace is a separate, stricter step that we take for repeated or severe violations or to protect others.

11. Disclaimers and liability

Zinewright is provided "as is". We work to keep it available and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that conversion will reproduce every element of your source.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data or profits, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the law of your country.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. For material changes we will notify you by email or in the workspace at least 30 days in advance. If you keep using Zinewright after the change, the new terms apply.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without affecting mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
