Zinewright

From manuscript to a single reading link

Zinewright is made for independent writers, clubs and editors of small publications. You decide what to write, how to arrange it and when it goes public; Zinewright detects articles, typesets the pages, numbers the contents and hosts the reading copy.

Organize Tales After Dark · 3 stories

Two starting points,
one publication

Work in progress is typeset by Zinewright; a finished PDF keeps its layout and gains contents and online reading. Proofs, versions and publishing work the same either way.

The order of articles
is the contents

Drag articles to reorder them, and the contents and page numbers follow the layout. Notes and images stay with their text; no manual page matching.

Check first, then go public

Generate a proof only you can see

Every generation is a new proof version. Go through the cover, contents and text page by page; nobody else can open it until you confirm.

Publish, and the link stays the same

The version you publish is the one readers see. Edit later and generate a new proof; when you publish it, the link readers already have keeps working.

Withdraw the public version when needed

Once withdrawn, readers can no longer open it; proofs and earlier versions stay in your workspace. Whether readers may download the PDF is a separate setting.

One link,
the whole issue

Readers don't sign up or download anything. Spreads on a computer, single pages on a phone, and the contents jump straight to any article.

Before you start

What is it good for?

Zines, club magazines, fan publications, portfolios, short-story anthologies and other small publications meant to be read online. Text is typeset by Zinewright; an existing PDF keeps its layout.

What can be imported from Word?

Basic headings, paragraphs and supported notes. Complex tables, tracked changes and special layouts are not supported yet; tidy the manuscript first, or export a PDF and convert that.

Do readers need an account?

No. Public reading links open directly. Creating publications, editing drafts and viewing private proofs requires an AjajaLab account.

Is the workspace in English?

Yes. The workspace, the reader and our emails are in English and Chinese. They follow your browser’s language, and you can switch in Settings.

Can you build a site just for us?

Yes. Every plan already includes a shelf page for your issues. For a site with its own design, domain, languages and sections, like the one we built for the mystery criticism collective Chiwutang, write to support@zinewright.com. Custom work is quoted per project.

How much does it cost?

Start with a free trial, then buy a plan when you need one; see pricing. Payments are handled by Paddle, and you can ask for a refund under the refund policy.
